The Advocacy Center is offering the following free, confidential support groups for adults this fall:
A group for women who have experienced sexual coercion, rape, or other sexual trauma will begin in mid-October. The co-facilitators are
Amanda Walts, who has extensive experience counseling survivors of sexual assault, and Toni Sunderland, Sexual Assault Counselor/Advocate at the
Advocacy Center. The group will provide support around relationship difficulties, flashbacks, sleep disturbance, and other issues that may result
from sexual trauma. Call Toni at the Advocacy Center (277-3203) for more information, or to schedule an intake interview.
A group for survivors of intimate partner violence and abuse will begin in early November. Women who feel unsafe at
home, whose partners hurt them, isolate them, prevent them from working, control and/or verbally abuse them are invited to this group. Co-facilitators
are Mary Chapman, a social worker with many years of experience working with issues surrounding violence against women, and Julia Dietrich, Domestic
Violence Counselor/Advocate at the Advocacy Center. Call Julia at the Advocacy Center (277-3203) for more information or to schedule an intake interview.
A group for women and men who were sexually abused as children or adolescents will begin in November. Co-facilitators
are Mickey Goldstein, MSW, and Emily Williams, Youth Sexual Abuse Counselor/Advocate at the Advocacy Center, who have facilitated two previous adult
